Karachi: KMC has launched an operation to remove encroachments along canals in Quaid-e-Azam city. The operation will be carried out in three phases.
According to details, an operation has been launched against encroachments on drains in different areas of Karachi. In this regard, anti-encroachment operation is underway near Cafe Pyala and Nala stop. KMC Anti-Encroachment staff is busy in removing encroachments.
KMC senior director Bashir Siddiqui said that the operation will be carried out at 3 places simultaneously in the city, encroachments from Cafe Pyala to Zia-ud-Din Hospital will be eliminated, second operation will be carried out from Cafe Pyala to 3 Hatti while third operation will be carried out on New Karachi Nalla. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Central said that the operation will be carried out in phases on the orders of the Supreme Court, in the first phase illegal sheds will be demolished around the drain.
He said that in the second phase illegal houses would be demolished, the second phase of the operation would start after providing alternative accommodation to the affected people, the residents would not be evicted.
According to the latest reports, shops are being demolished along the drain in the first phase of the operation. More than 100 anti-encroachment police personnel are taking part in the operation.
Anti-Encroachment Police started red marking at Nala stop. 7,000 shops and more than 9,000 houses at Nala stop are illegal. Along with the marking, notices are also being issued to shops and houses.
