Inflation rises in the last week of August

ISLAMABAD: Inflation rose by 0.80 per cent in the last week of August 2020, with prices of 20 essential commodities rising, prices of six essential commodities declining and prices of 25 essential commodities stabilizing in a week, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics. ۔


According to the details, the Federal Bureau of Statistics released a weekly report on inflation. According to the report, in the last week of August, inflation rose by 0.80%.


According to the statistics agency, inflation rose to 9.47 per cent, with prices of 20 essential commodities rising in a week, prices of six essential commodities declining and prices of 25 essential commodities stabilizing.


According to the report, prices of tomatoes, onions, lentils, lentils, jaggery, potatoes, fresh milk, curd, LPG, garlic, chicken and eggs rose.


In a week, sugar became cheaper by 87 paise per kg, besides wheat, flour, rice, bananas, lentils and lentils.


Similarly, prices of mutton, beef, powdered milk, garments, tea, petrol, diesel, kerosene, electricity and gas remained stable.


Overall, the rate of inflation rose to 0.63 per cent in August, but the average rate of inflation in August was 2 per cent lower than the previous month.


Inflation stood at 8.21 per cent in August as against 9.30 per cent in July. According to the Bureau of Statistics, the inflation rate during July-August 2020 was 8.74 percent.
